Are the signs of aging causing fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discolorations? The good news is that we can dial back the years through innovative therapies that help rebuild your skin from within.
At Evolve Aesthetics, our experienced and highly-skilled team of aestheticians combines two powerful procedures: microneedling and platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP. By using these treatments together, you’ll be well on your way to getting rejuvenated, plumper, younger-looking skin.
Tapping the power of platelets
The combination of microneedling and PRP triggers your body’s natural regenerative abilities. First, we turn to microneedling to create thousands of tiny, microscopic injuries across the surface of your skin. This encourages a healing response that comes in the form of increased collagen production. In turn, your skin looks fuller and its elasticity is improved.
At the same time, we boost this rejuvenation process by adding PRP, which contains powerful growth factors that aid in the healing and repair of your tissue.
To access this healing and regenerative resource, our staff draws a small amount of your blood. We then process it in a centrifuge which concentrates the platelets, which we mix back in with your plasma, creating the PRP.
During your microneedling and PRP combination treatment, we add your platelet-rich plasma to the device we use to stimulate your skin during a regular microneedling treatment. Adding PRP to microneedling enhances the process of regenerating fresh, healthy skin tissue, giving you a more youthful appearance.
As an added bonus, the PRP also works to decrease post-treatment symptoms like redness or swelling.
Whether you’d like to get rid of acne scarring, age spots, wrinkles, or uneven pigmentation, microneedling and PRP can tackle all of these issues and more.
That said, some people shouldn’t have the combination treatment, such as pregnant women, people who are taking certain medications, or those who scar easily.
For most people, however, microneedling with PRP provides an easy way to rejuvenate and refresh the skin they’re in.
Appointments only take about an hour: 30 minutes for the topical anesthetic to start working, and 30 minutes for the procedure itself. Depending on your situation, you may need a series of treatments to reach your cosmetic goals — in most cases, 3-6 sessions do the trick.
After (and before) each microneedling with PRP treatment, you should avoid exposure to the sun. You may experience some swelling and redness, but these minor side effects should dissipate within a few days. You should also avoid alcohol-based products and exfoliants as your skin heals after your treatments, and you’ll want to avoid vigorous physical activity for a few days.
